Commvault covers a wider range of workloads than any competing backup platform — including non-Windows physical servers, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SAP HANA, Google Mail, Salesforce, all Microsoft 365 workloads, and all major cloud platforms. Azure Backup, by comparison, does not support non-Windows servers, Oracle, most open-source databases, Google Mail, Salesforce, SAP HANA, cross-cloud restore, compliance search, legal hold, live mount, or unlimited recovery points. Databarracks delivers ransomware protection through immutable cloud storage locks (AWS or Azure), Commvault mount path protection for on-premises backup pools, honeypot-based ransomware detection, AAA framework security controls, and FIPS 140-2 encryption applied at source before transmission. Even if an attacker obtains cloud credentials or gains access to the Commvault CommCell, the immutable storage lock prevents modification or deletion of backup data. This multi-layer approach provides defence-in-depth against both external attackers and insider threats.

Microsoft is responsible for Microsoft 365 platform availability — not for customer data protection. Deleted items, corrupted files, and ransomware-encrypted collaboration data are not recoverable through Microsoft-native tools beyond very short retention windows. Databarracks provides Commvault-powered Microsoft 365 backup with policy-driven protection across Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Yammer, and Skype — with point-in-time restore, compliance search, legal hold, and GDPR-compliant data retention that native Microsoft tools cannot match.

Databarracks operates as a fully managed service — customers do not need backup administrators, Commvault expertise, or internal infrastructure to manage the backup environment. Databarracks handles policy configuration, monitoring, job management, alert response, compliance reporting, and recovery testing. This is particularly valuable for mid-market organisations and enterprises whose IT teams are focused on other priorities and cannot justify the cost of maintaining dedicated backup and recovery specialists in-house.

Databarracks is headquartered in London with all technical employees background-screened to BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) — the UK government standard for access to sensitive data. Internal information security policies, need-to-know access controls, audit logging generating gigabytes of log data daily, and breach notification procedures consistent with legal obligations provide an organisational security posture appropriate for regulated data environments. Service providers used by Databarracks are bound under contract to confidentiality obligations covering any user data they handle.
